National Press Day 2026, Palace: May the press progress, be professional, and responsible
Minister of State Secretary Pra Setyo Hadi, representing President Prabowo Subianto and the government, expressed his hope that the national press would continue to develop into a progressive, increasingly professional, and responsible press in carrying out its role for the nation and state on the commemoration of National Press Day (HPN) 2026.

"On behalf of the President and the government, we wish you a Happy National Press Day, with the hope and prayer that our press will continue to be progressive, responsible, and increasingly professional. Together, let us become pillars of progress for the nation and country we love," Prasetyo said at the Presidential Palace.

Prasetyo expressed his appreciation to the press who have worked hard to convey various information to the public, both related to government duties, achievements, and various problems that occur in society.

In addition, Prasetyo also reminded the press that they continue to have a shared responsibility to avoid spreading hoaxes, disinformation, and irresponsible reporting because they can damage the foundations of national and state life.

"Let us share the same responsibility to avoid hoaxes, disinformation, and irresponsible reporting that can damage the very fabric of our nation," he concluded.

The peak of the 2026 National Press Day (HPN) commemoration was centered in Serang, Banten, with the theme "Healthy Press, Sovereign Economy, Strong Nation."

The series of events for the 2026 National Press Day (HPN) in Banten took place from February 6 to 9, 2026, covering various agendas ranging from Cultural Performances and MSME Exhibitions, social services, to a Healthy Walk involving the wider community.

The determination of February 9 as National Press Day is based on Presidential Decree Number 5 of 1985, which also marks the birth of the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) in 1946 in Surakarta.
