A study by British researchers has shown that inhaling a carefully selected blend of essential oils helps improve memory, attention, and brain function.

Ninety volunteers participated in the experiment, divided into three groups: the first performed cognitive tasks in a room scented with the new "Genius" essential oil blend, the second in a room scented with sage (which had previously shown a positive effect on memory), and the third in a room with no scents. The participants were unaware that the scent was part of the experiment.

The results showed that the group that used the new Genius blend excelled in performing tasks related to word recall, working memory, and complex calculations. Its members also felt more energetic and less tired after completing the tests. Measurements of blood flow in the brain using near-infrared spectroscopy showed an increase in the brain's metabolic activity during task performance. This effect was more pronounced in the first group compared to the group that inhaled sage oils.

The researchers pointed out that the "Genius" aromatic blend contains medicinal essential oils extracted from patchouli, bergamot, grapefruit, cardamom, frankincense, rosemary, and lemon. Each of these oils has previously shown an effect on memory and concentration, but blending all of these oils together yielded better results. Despite the results they obtained, more detailed studies are needed to understand the mechanisms by which these oils affect brain function and their effects on memory.
