Palestinians injured by Israeli gunfire in Gaza; Civil Defense battles renewed fire for over 20 hours
The Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that a child was injured by gunfire directed at tents of displaced people near the Netzarim crossing in the central Gaza Strip. Two other Palestinians were also injured in central and western Khan Younis in the south. WAFA further reported that a 60-year-old man was shot in the foot when gunfire was directed at tents of displaced people in the Mughraqa area south of Gaza City.

Eyewitnesses reported that Israeli forces opened heavy fire east of Khan Younis before carrying out extensive demolitions of several residential buildings. They also reported gunfire in the eastern areas of al-Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip and in the Zeitoun neighborhood east of Gaza City. The witnesses added that warplanes launched airstrikes on Rafah in the south and east of Gaza City.

Since the agreement came into effect, the occupation army has committed hundreds of violations of the ceasefire agreement, resulting, as of Wednesday, in the martyrdom of about 591 people and the injury of 1,578 others.

The agreement ended a war of extermination that Israel began on October 7, 2023, which lasted two years and left more than 72,000 martyrs and more than 171,000 wounded Palestinians, and massive destruction that affected 90% of the civilian infrastructure, with reconstruction costs estimated by the United Nations at about $70 billion.

In a related context, the Palestinian Civil Defense announced that its crews have been continuing their attempts since Friday afternoon to control a fire that has been reigniting in the Al-Barqouni building west of Gaza City, amid difficulties that have prevented it from being completely extinguished for more than 20 hours.

He explained that the crews are working with the support of the Gaza Municipality and the police to control the fire that broke out in a warehouse belonging to a relief organization on the first floor of the building, before it reignited due to limited resources.

The Civil Defense pointed out that one of the most prominent obstacles was the destruction of most of the fire trucks, water tanks, breathing apparatus, protection equipment, and rescue and rapid intervention equipment, stressing that the past few days witnessed the outbreak of large fires that revealed the weakness of the Civil Protection capabilities.

He renewed his call to support the agency with the necessary resources to enable it to perform its humanitarian tasks, warning of the risks of a severe shortage of equipment, machinery and fuel, given what he says is that its headquarters, vehicles and personnel have been targeted during the war.
