Returning to lead wushu, Airlangga focuses on preparing the roadmap for the 2032 Olympics.
Airlangga Hartarto is leading wushu in Indonesia for the third time for the 2026–2030 term after he was elected by acclamation as the General Chair of the Indonesian Wushu Executive Board (PB WI) at the VIII Indonesian Wushu National Conference (Munas) in West Jakarta on Tuesday.

When meeting with the media crew after closing the National Conference attended by 32 Wushu Regional Executive Boards throughout Indonesia, he said his main target for this period was to prepare a roadmap for the 2032 Olympics in Brisbane, Australia.

"The main thing is of course to continue our achievements, both in single and multi-event events, and then create a roadmap towards the 2032 Olympics. This means we must provide coaching and training to young athletes, junior athletes," said Airlangga, the man who also serves as the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.

This primary focus, he said, is crucial for maintaining Indonesia's wushu reputation in Asia and globally. Maintaining top performance is no easy feat, he noted, especially now that Indonesian wushu has lost several of its best athletes to retirement.
