This certainty was stated by Michael after the Indonesian national futsal team lost 4-5 on penalties to Iran after the two teams drew 5-5 until extra time, in the final match of the 2026 Asian Futsal Cup at the Indonesia.
"The contract is already in place, we've actually extended it until 2028, until the World Cup," said Michael.
On the same occasion, Michael stated that FFI highly appreciates the Garuda team's efforts in the 2026 Futsal Asia Cup, which made history by playing in the final for the first time.
Indonesia's previous best performance in this tournament was reaching the quarterfinals in Kuwait in 2022. They improved on that achievement this year, reaching the semifinals and defeating Japan 5-3 to make history again by reaching the final.
