State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi stated that discussions regarding the progress of the Presidential Regulation or Perpres on the Involvement of the TNI in Counterterrorism are still ongoing.
According to Prasetyo, the government is currently examining various aspects to ensure that the regulations drafted remain in line with the TNI's main duties and functions.
"It's being discussed. It's where we all look at each other, what the main tasks are, and then we look at the overall scale," said the State Secretary at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Monday.
Prasetyo explained that during the discussion process, the government comprehensively reviewed the division of roles between agencies, including the boundaries of each agency's main duties.
This is important to ensure that the resulting regulations are able to address the needs of handling terrorism without going beyond the existing corridor of authority.
He added that the ever-changing dynamics of terrorism require adjustments to regulations and handling mechanisms.
"Secondly, we have no choice but to realize that everything is evolving, including the world of terrorism," he said.
