The Palace said the new MUI building was built on the land of the former British Embassy.
Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said the new Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) building will be built on the former British Embassy land, or in the Hotel Indonesia (HI) Roundabout area on Jalan MH Thamrin.

This is in line with President Prabowo Subianto's previous statement that he had prepared 4,000 square meters of land in the HI Roundabout area for the construction of the new MUI building.

When asked by the media crew about the building using the former British Embassy, Prasetyo answered briefly.

"The land (the former British Embassy)," said Pras, his nickname, when met at Gambir Station.

When asked again about building the building from scratch, Pras confirmed it.

"Yes (building from scratch)," he said briefly.

Although he did not want to go into detail, Prasetyo explained that the budget for the construction of the MUI building could be taken from the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) budget post, or from other posts.

"That's a matter of how to distribute it. It could be through the Ministry of Religion, or it could not be through the Ministry of Religion," said Pras.
