The Iranian national futsal team came from behind twice to beat Iraq 4-2 to secure a place in the 2026 Asian Futsal Cup final at the Indonesia Arena in Jakarta on Saturday (February 7).
This will be Iran's 16th appearance in the final, with the previous 13 having ended in victory. Of their previous 15 finals, they have lost only twice: in 2014 in Vietnam and 2022 in Kuwait, to the same team, Japan.
The semifinal match against Iran at the Indonesia Arena on Thursday was a tight affair from the start. Iraq nearly took the lead through Mustafa Ihsan and Harith Saad, while Iran responded with a header from Mohammadihossein Derakhshani that hit the crossbar.
