Alcaraz defeats Ruud to reach Indian Wells quarterfinals
  Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz continued to send a strong signal in 2026, defeating Norwegian Casper Ruud in the fourth round of the 2026 BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells , Western Indonesian Time.

The world number one played a composed game to win 6-1, 7-6(2) and advance to the quarter-finals for the fifth consecutive year.

"Honestly, the first set was unplayable," Alcaraz said with a smile on the ATP website.

"I'm really happy to have qualified and hopefully I can play at this level in the next round."

The two-time ATP Masters 1000 hardcourt champion got off to a flying start to take a 6-1 lead over Ruud in their head-to-head.

"I think I can have fun and enjoy it, but I can also refocus and think clearly," said the 22-year-old.
