Indonesian men's singles player Prahdiska Bagas Shujiwo said he needed to increase his hitting power as part of his main evaluation after finishing runner-up at the 2026 Ruichang China Masters.
Bagas had to admit defeat to host Sun Chao in the final in Ruichang, China, on Sunday, after losing in two straight games 14-21, 11-21.
"Thank God, I'm still grateful for this result. In the first game, I couldn't get out of my opponent's pressure. Today's opponent played very well and was very brave," said Bagas in a statement from the Indonesian Badminton Association after the match.
He explained that his efforts to keep up with his opponent's tempo in the second game had not yielded results because he still had difficulty escaping the pressure, so that some of his shots were not optimal and his opponent was able to take advantage of them to gain points.
"In the second game, I tried to keep up with my opponent's tempo, but I still couldn't break through the pressure. I had a lot of loose balls, which my opponent took advantage of," he said.
Bagas revealed that there were no significant technical or physical challenges during the match. However, he acknowledged that his opponent appeared more confident, organized, and bold in taking the initiative at a fast pace.
According to Bagas, the pressure of the match also affected his performance, so he couldn't show his best game as usual.
"The pressure was definitely there, and today I couldn't play my normal game. My opponent was also more aggressive and played very well," he said.
