Climbing coach: Speed team could compete in 2026 AG Qualifiers
Indonesian speed climbing coach Galar Pandu Asmoro said that his squad will be able to compete closely or competitively in the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games (AG) Qualification in Japan, next April.

According to him, the current composition of athletes is already capable, even though 50 percent of them are young or junior athletes.

"Actually, in a period of approximately one month, no coach can improve or change things quickly, so we focus more on honing the athletes' existing abilities," said Galar after being introduced as the Indonesian speed climbing coach at the Indonesian national climbing team training center in Bekasi City.

He explained that, despite the relatively short preparation time, the Red and White squad still has a chance because the majority of athletes already have a good foundation of skills and experience competing at the international level.

The current composition of the speed team is relatively new, with around 50 percent being filled by young athletes, which is an important asset for maintaining Indonesia's competitiveness in the Asian region, where competition is increasingly fierce.

Galar said that young athletes like Antasyafi Robby will be able to show promising performances, after performing well at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand.

This experience, he continued, will be valuable provision for facing the next international agenda.
