The International Boxing Federation has stripped Janibek Alimkhanuly of his middleweight world title after he was found guilty of using a banned substance or doping in the form of a performance-enhancing drug.
"Alimkhanuly tested positive for meldonium, a banned substance, after testing in mid-November 2025," The Ring reported, as monitored.
Janibek's use of a banned substance was discovered after testing conducted by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association ahead of his fight against Erislandy Lara in November 2025.
VADA found that Janibek's sample A contained the banned metabolic modulator Meldonium. Upon further investigation, sample B also confirmed this finding, strengthening the evidence that Janibek had used a banned substance.
In response to the results, the IBF then took administrative action regarding the status of Janibek's middleweight world title. Meanwhile, the boxing authority imposed a ban on Janibek, effective retroactively.
