Several hundred people gathered in France on Saturday morning at the Place de la Bastille in Paris for a “No Kings” protest targeting Donald Trump and what organizers described as his authoritarian policies. Most of the participants were Americans living in France, but French labor unions and human rights organizations also joined the movement, indicating broader support. The Paris gathering was part of an international day of coordinated action with rallies across the United States. Organizers say more than 3,100 events were registered in all 50 U.S. states, while other demonstrations were also held in several European cities and elsewhere in France. In Paris, protesters denounced Trump’s immigration policies, the military escalation, and what they see as a weakening of democratic norms. One of the organizers, Ada Shen, stated that participants opposed “illegal, immoral, and irresponsible” policies as well as “endless wars.” For Americans abroad, the rally also served as a call to remain mobilized ahead of the 2026 midterm elections and the 2028 presidential election.
