German police reported injuries from gunfire in the city center of Mönchengladbach in western Germany on Thursday evening.
According to a police spokesperson at the scene, three men were taken to the hospital by ambulance. It was initially unclear whether there were any other injuries.
Police initially provided no details about the nature or severity of the injuries or the type of firearm used. The weapon was found near the scene.
The spokesperson said an argument broke out for reasons that were not immediately clear, and escalated into a street fight. It was also unclear whether anyone else was involved. No arrests have been made so far.
Police were deployed in large numbers and the area was cordoned off. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities have urged citizens to avoid the area.
