Honda HRC Castrol factory team rider Joan Mir revealed that significant improvements in the engine sector are a major factor in Honda's revival entering the 2026 MotoGP season.
According to Mir, the development carried out by the Japanese manufacturer is starting to show results after struggling to compete at the front in the last few seasons.
"The biggest improvement this season is the engine. Honda did a great job giving us a more powerful engine and package. I think that's the main difference when comparing bikes," Mir told several national media outlets during a fan event.
The 2020 MotoGP world champion said improvements were not limited to the engine, but also to aerodynamics, chassis, and electronics. However, he emphasized that the engine was the most important performance change for the bike this season.
"We're also better in aerodynamics, chassis, and electronics. But the biggest difference is in the engine," he said.
