Indonesian national team coach John Herdman made a positive first impression when he made his debut with the Garuda team at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium.

The Englishman made his debut as Indonesia's national team coach, leading the Red and Whites to a 4-0 victory over St. Kitts and Nevis in the FIFA World Cup Series. The victory earned Indonesia a place in the final against Bulgaria

"As I said before, the atmosphere here is unique, truly unique. The national anthem is so powerful, you can feel the connection there. And what happened at the end of the game, I've never seen anything like that in my football career. To be able to connect with the fans in that way, it was very special," Herdman said at the post-match press conference.

“And you have to connect, you know, our goal is to connect this country from every island, across the thousands of miles that we need, and we will provide everything for you,” he said.

Herdman also hopes that Indonesian national team fans will continue to support the team during these difficult times.

"I'll tell you this, we're going to give everything to these fans. And we just hope the fans, in our toughest times, give everything to us, because there will be tough times," Herdman said.
