John Stones: It feels great to be back playing for City
Manchester City defender John Stones said he was delighted to be back playing for his team, having recovered from a thigh injury that had kept him out for quite some time.

The England international captained City in their 3-1 FA Cup fifth-round win over Newcastle United on Sunday morning. This was only his second start in 2026.

"Getting back into the rhythm of the game was crucial. The first 20 minutes here are always difficult because of their speed and power. We have to stay positive and be ready when called upon, and I think we did that tonight," said Stones, who has only played 15 times this season, as quoted on City's official website
