Chairman of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) Raja Sapta Oktohari called on all sports stakeholders to work together to improve Indonesia's achievements on the occasion of KOI's 74th anniversary.
"To revive Indonesian sports, we must all unite. We hope for the best so that sporting achievements will improve in every multi-event , whether at the SEA Games, Asian Games, or the Olympics. Indonesia must be better than before," said Raja Sapta Oktohari at the 74th anniversary celebration of the Indonesian Olympic Committee.
He assessed that Indonesian sports have achieved various impressive achievements at the regional and international levels. However, he believes these achievements still need to be further improved, necessitating strong collaboration from all sports stakeholders in the country.
Oktohari emphasized that the Indonesian Olympic Committee , the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI), the Indonesian Community Sports Committee , and the Indonesian National Paralympic Committee (NPC Indonesia), must share the same determination and vision. While each institution has different roles and responsibilities, they are all committed to the same cause: elevating Indonesia's sporting achievements.
"We are fighting for the Indonesian nation, not just to show who is the greatest. No matter how good our achievements, if Indonesia's sporting achievements are not optimal, that is our collective responsibility," he said.
In its 74th year, the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) continues to promote various strategic initiatives for the development of national sports. One such initiative is the National Olympic Academy Indonesia (NOA), affiliated with the International Olympic Academy. This program provides opportunities for young people and sports professionals to participate in scholarships, training, and academic exchanges facilitated by KOI.
In addition, KOI also seeks to strengthen Indonesia's role in the global sports community and make sports a means of strengthening unity and promoting peace.
