Real Madrid failed to close the gap on Barcelona at the top of the 2025/26 Spanish League (LaLiga) standings after losing 0-1 to Getafe.
The match, which took place at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on Tuesday morning WIB, marked the end of the 26th week of matches.
Getafe snatched victory thanks to Martin Satriano's 39th-minute goal. The match also saw two red cards in injury time. Franco Mastantuono was first sent off in the 90+5 minute, leaving Madrid with 10 men.
Not long after, Adrian Liso also received a red card in the 90+7 minute so that both teams ended the match with 10 players.
The additional three points brought Getafe up to 11th place with a collection of 32 points.
Meanwhile, this defeat means Madrid failed to close the gap on Barcelona at the top of the table to one point. Los Blancos currently sit in second place with 60 points.
On Saturday (February 28th), Barcelona put in a convincing 4-1 victory over Villarreal. With 12 matches remaining in the competition, the race at the top of the table is certainly still wide open, especially in the title race between Barcelona and Real Madrid.
