Persija coach Mauricio Souza emphasized that his team will not use Dewa United FC's elimination from the AFC Challenge League as additional motivation when the two teams meet at the Jakarta International Stadium.
Souza said his team's primary motivation remains their Super League target, not their opponents' recent failure to progress in the AFC Challenge League.
"What motivates us is our goal in this competition," Souza said at a press conference at the International Stadium.
Dewa United were eliminated from the AFC Challenge League after losing 2-3 on aggregate to Filipino club Manila Digger.
Souza believes every team always has its own motivation when facing Persija. Therefore, he believes his team must maintain focus to achieve maximum results.
The Brazilian coach also emphasized that there are still many matches left in the competition, so the opportunity to reach the top of the standings is still open.
On the same day tomorrow, Persija's two rivals, namely Persib and Borneo FC, will also compete against each other.
