Putri KW uses the Swiss Open as a tool for evaluation to improve her performance

Indonesian women's singles player Putri Kusuma Wardani is using her runner-up finish at the 2026 Swiss Open as a stepping stone to improving her performance, particularly when facing pressure during crucial matches.

Putri had to admit the superiority of Thai representative Supanida Katethong with a score of 11-21, 15-21 in the final which took place at St. Jakobshalle, Basel.

"I actually wanted to play my best from the start, but I felt quite pressured on the court. Supanida also implemented the right strategy by limiting my overhead balls and speeding up the tempo," Putri said in an official statement from the Indonesian Badminton Association  after the final.

The top seed was still grateful to have made it to the final, although he admitted he was not satisfied because he felt his game did not develop optimally in the title-deciding match.

"But I'm not satisfied because my game didn't come out today," he said.

Putri added that the series of tournaments she participated in over the past few weeks gave her a lot of valuable experience, especially when facing players with different playing styles.

According to him, this experience is an important provision for improving his ability to face players with solid defenses and aggressive attacks.

"Over the past two weeks, I've gained a lot of experience from top players. I've learned how to handle different types of games," he said.
