The Secretary General of the Ministry of Communication and Digital, Ismail, stated that telecommunications service traffic is predicted to increase by up to 40 percent during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday.
"This will last approximately two weeks. The implications will certainly have a significant impact on the surge in telecommunications traffic, which reports estimate at around 30-40 percent," he said , during a farewell ceremony for members of the telecommunications monitoring post task force at the Ministry of Communication and Digital office.
Another factor expected to contribute to increased use of telecommunications services during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday is the government's recommendation to implement a work-from-anywhere policy for workers.
To maintain the quality of telecommunications services during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri holiday, the government, in collaboration with cellular operators, deployed a task force to provide services to the public at a special telecommunications service monitoring post operated.
"We have all taken good precautions, as our mobile operators have prepared backup plans to expand their network in areas prone to crowding , " Ismail said.
