The prestigious 2026 Finalissima match pitting European champions Spain against South American champions Argentina has been officially canceled after UEFA and the Argentine Football Association failed to reach an agreement on the match schedule.
The match, originally scheduled to take place , was postponed due to the political situation in the region and time constraints that prevented both parties from finding an alternative date.
In its official statement, UEFA expressed its deep disappointment over the failure to hold the event which brought together the two major confederations.
"It is a source of great disappointment for UEFA and the organisers that circumstances and timing have prevented the two teams from competing for this prestigious title in Qatar," UEFA said in a statement.
UEFA also commended the efforts of the local organizing committee in Qatar and hoped the region would soon stabilize and host international events again in the future.
