Madura United coach Carlos Pereira admitted his team performed poorly when they were thrashed by Persita Tangerang with a score of 1-4 in the 25th week of the BRI Super League at the Indomilk Arena Stadium.

Quoted from the club's official website, Sunday, Pereira explained that Madura United started the match far from what they had planned.

"Today's match can be divided into two parts. In the first half, in the first 20 minutes, we really weren't good," said Pereira.

In this match, Madura United was four goals behind in the first half from Persita Tangerang due to goals from Ahmad Nur Hardianto, Pablo Ganet and Rayco Rodriguez (2).

The Brazilian coach said that Madura United's performance improved in the second half, and he explained that if they had played like this since the first half, the match could have ended differently.

Madura United's improved performance allowed them to reduce the deficit through Reiquelme Sousa, but in the end the match ended with a score of 4-1 for Persita Tangerang.

"After that, we made some changes, and in the second half we were stronger, we scored a goal. If we had had the same spirit and play in the first half, the result would have been different," said Pereira.

This result means Madura United has suffered three consecutive defeats in the Super League competition after previously suffering defeats to Malut United and Persib Bandung.

Madura United is currently ranked 14th in the Super League standings with 20 points from 25 matches, just two points above the relegation zone.
