The Governor of North Sumatra invited the public to support North Sumatra in hosting the AFF Cup

North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution has called on the public to support North Sumatra's bid to host the AFF U-19 Cup this year.

"From June 1st to 14th, 2026. Let's support its implementation," said Bobby while attending a fast-breaking event with journalists from the North Sumatra Provincial Government at the North Sumatra Governor's.

The Governor said that this appointment was based on an official PSSI letter numbered 1057/UDN/623/III-2026 addressed to his party.

According to him, young football players at the Southeast Asian level will compete at the North Sumatra Main Stadium, Deli Serdang Regency.

The North Sumatra Main Stadium was once used as a venue for matches between four countries, namely Indonesia, Mali, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan in the 2025 Independence Cup on August 12-18 last year.

"Many AFF (ASEAN Football Federation) players from 11 countries will be coming, and we will be good hosts," said Bobby.

He also hopes that the international football tournament at the North Sumatra Main Stadium will become an even more prestigious event in North Sumatra.

"Hopefully, this will be the second international football tournament, and we will continue to advance to the highest international football level," Bobby explained.

PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir said that the distribution of international events to various regions in the country is a commitment of the federation.
