The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs conducted a surprise inspection of the Meta office to request compliance from digital platforms.
The Ministry of Communication and Digital  along with several government agencies conducted a surprise inspection  at the office of technology company Meta  to request a commitment from the digital platform to comply with applicable laws in Indonesia.

"This afternoon, we conducted a surprise inspection at the Meta office. This is a follow-up to Article 40 of the ITE Law, which states that the government is tasked with protecting public safety and interests from all forms of disruption caused by misinformation and disinformation," said Communications and Digital Minister Meutya Hafid after the inspection.

Meutya explained that this unannounced inspection was carried out after the government had previously communicated with Meta, both formally and persuasively. Due to perceived non-compliance, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs ultimately visited the offices of the Facebook and Instagram social media operators.
