The US military announced Tuesday that it had struck Iranian anti-ship missile sites near the strategic Strait of Hormuz , using bunker-buster bombs that are among the most powerful in the US arsenal.
“U.S. forces successfully used several 5,000-pound bunker-buster munitions against hardened Iranian missile sites on the Iranian coast near the Strait of Hormuz,” U.S. Central Command said in a statement.
The statement added that “Iranian anti-ship cruise missiles in these locations posed a threat to international navigation in the Strait.”
