The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced the death of Ali Majed Hamadneh (23 years old), explaining that a bullet fired by settlers penetrated his back and chest, and he arrived at the Palestine Medical Complex in a very critical condition before his death was announced.
The official Palestinian news agency WAFA quoted Fathi Hamdan, head of the Deir Jarir village council, as saying: "Armed settlers attacked the village from its western entrance and opened fire on residents, wounding Hamdan before he succumbed to his injuries." Hamdan added that the Israeli occupation army stormed the area to secure and protect the settlers.
In this context, the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission said that this attack comes within a continuous escalation of settler attacks in the West Bank, noting that the number of martyrs as a result of these attacks has reached 12 since the beginning of the year, and 47 since October 2023.
The commission stated in a previous statement that settlers carried out 443 attacks between February 28 and March 28, including direct gunfire, arson of property, and attempts to establish new settlement outposts.
It stated that the attacks, during that period alone, resulted in the killing of 9 Palestinians, in addition to the destruction of lands and crops and the setting of fires, amid an escalation in the pace and scope of these attacks, according to the same source.
Israel, through its army and settlers, has escalated its attacks against Palestinians in the West Bank since the start of the genocide in Gaza in October 2023, resulting in the martyrdom of more than 1,148 Palestinians, the injury of about 11,750, and the arrest of about 22,000.
