The Burundian army is trying to reassure the population after a fire at a military arsenal killed 13 civilians.
On Thursday, General Gaspard Baratuza, spokesman for the country's defense force, faced the press.
"Houses were damaged in various neighborhoods, as well as private vehicles. Military equipment and installations burned and were destroyed," said army spokesman General Gaspard Baratuza in a statement.
The Burundian army confirmed on Wednesday that 13 civilians were killed in explosions earlier this week during a fire at a military arsenal in the economic capital, Bujumbura, which also injured 57.
Authorities suggested a short circuit, but the explosions sowed fear in the southern districts of the city.
The army did not specify whether any soldiers had been killed, but indicated that three of them were among the wounded.
