One of the civil society organizations in the US, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), is suing Elon Musk's artificial intelligence (AI) company , xAI, for alleged air pollution caused by its data centers.
More specifically, this lawsuit was filed against xAI's subsidiary, MZX Tech, for operating a methane gas turbine without a permit at the Colossus 2 data center in South Memphis, USA.
As reported the lawsuit was filed by the NAACP in the Federal District Court of North Mississippi with reference to the provisions of the Clean Air Act.
The lawsuit seeks to stop xAI from using the turbines without a permit, and the court
expected to impose economic sanctions on xAI for violating federal law.
