The Ministry of Creative Economy is implementing the 2026 Creative Economy Agency Digital Talent (BDT) Program to recruit digital talents and improve their capabilities in utilizing artificial intelligence ( AI ) technology.
At the press conference for the inauguration of BDT 2026, Muhammad Neil El Himam, Deputy for Digital Creativity and Technology at the Ministry of Creative Economy, said that this program was held to help the industry meet the need for workers with digital technology skills.
"The BDT program is an intensive, multi-level digital competency training program that combines in-depth technical skills, hard skills , interpersonal skills, and soft skills , based on a global industry curriculum," Neil said.
He said the BDT Program was implemented because, according to the Asia Pacific Digital Skills 2023 study, approximately 73 percent of workers do not utilize digital skills.
Data from the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower in 2023 also showed that 53 percent of companies found it difficult to find workers with digital technology skills.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Communication and Digital estimates that Indonesia will need up to 12 million digital talents by 2030, but only around 9 million digital talents can be prepared.
Neil said that the 2026 BDT Program curriculum includes material on creating applications, software, and games as well as using the web in platforms.
