China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has issued an official security advisory to iPhone and iPad users who are still using outdated software due to active exploitation of security flaws.
MIIT's appeal covers all iPhones and iPads with iOS or iPadOS versions 13.0 to 17.2.1 to immediately update them to the latest supported version to avoid cyber attacks.
Attackers spread malicious code through Safari by luring users to visit compromised sites, via phishing SMS, emails, or manipulated search results.
If the attack is successful, the attacker can install remote control malware, steal sensitive user data, and gain full administrative access to the device.
