The Indonesian team is wary of Canada's strength in the opening match of Group C of the 2026 Uber Cup which will take place at the Horsens Forum, Denmark.
Indonesian women's singles player Putri Kusuma Wardani said Canada has equal strength in all sectors, both singles and doubles.
"I think Canada's strengths are evenly matched, in both singles and doubles. They also still have Michelle Li, who has consistently played at the top level," Putri said in an official statement from the Indonesian Badminton Association.
However, Putri remains optimistic that the Indonesian Uber Cup team will be able to achieve maximum results in the opening match.
He emphasized the importance of each player performing without any burden and bringing out their best abilities on the field.
"I'm just saying that whoever is fielded must play with enjoyment and give their all. There's no need to think about winning or losing, because here we all support each other," he said.
Putri also ensured that the team was ready for the first match.
"Thank God, all preparations for tomorrow have gone very well, and the Uber team is certainly very united," he said.
Indonesia, which is in Group C with Canada, Australia, and Taiwan, is targeting the group top position to ease its progress to the next phase.
"We want to top the group, so the matches against Canada, Australia, and Taiwan are all very important. But now the focus is on getting a good result in the opening match," said Putri.
Indonesia relies on Putri Kusuma Wardani, who is showing a trend of improving performance, supported by Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo, Thalita Ramadhani Wiryawan, and Ni Kadek Dhinda Amartya Pratiwi.
Meanwhile, in the doubles sector, Indonesia has a number of pair rotation options, such as Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti, Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma, Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi, Meilysa Trias Puspitasari, Febi Setianingrum, and Rachel Allessya Rose.
