Janice Tjen was stopped by the top seed of the 2026 Madrid Open

Indonesian women's tennis player Janice Tjen was stopped in the second round of the 2026 Madrid Open after losing to 20th seed Liudmila Samsonova with a score of 6-2, 6-1 on Court 8 Caja Magica.

Janice was unable to fend off Samsonova, who played solidly in her opening match at the WTA 1000 event. Armed with a powerful serve, the Russian served an ace, hit 82.6 percent of her first serves, and recorded 84.2 percent of her first-serve points.

Samsonova's solid play continued in the second set. Unlike the opening set, which was marred by two double faults, she played without a single double fault and converted three of her four break point opportunities.

The 27-year-old, currently ranked 20th in the WTA rankings, hit 81.8 percent of her first-serve points and 80 percent of her first-serve points to win.
