Indonesian women's field hockey team qualifies for 2026 Asian Games

The Indonesian women's national field hockey team has qualified for the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games after defeating Sri Lanka 3-1 in their second match in Pool B of the qualifiers at the Gelora Bung Karno Hockey Field in Jakarta on Friday night.

Salma Maulani contributed two goals in the victory followed by Dea Destian who scored a penalty corner , while Sri Lanka could only reply once through Samadari Kumari.

The victory secured Indonesia's place in the top two of Pool B and secured a place in the semifinals alongside Singapore. Garuda Pertiwi currently leads Pool B on goal difference (5-2) over Singapore (4-2), although both teams have six points.

Indonesia and Singapore are certain to be unable to overtake Kazakhstan and Sri Lanka, who both have zero points after failing to win their two matches.

The 2026 Asian Games qualifying round for women's field hockey is seeking the top four teams to secure a spot in Aichi-Nagoya. Two other spots are still up for grabs among the three teams in Pool A: Bangladesh and Chinese Taipei, each with four points, and Uzbekistan with three points.

Hong Kong is certain to have no chance because it is currently at the bottom of the Group A standings with zero points from two matches.
