Minister of Communication and Digital: TikTok complies with Tunas Regulation, closes 1.7 million child accounts

 

  Minister of Communication and Digital  Meutya Hafid stated that TikTok is the first Electronic System Provider (PSE) in Indonesia to fulfill the PP Tunas obligation to protect children in the digital space by closing 1.7 million child accounts.

Meutya appreciated TikTok's move and stated that the platform plans to more extensively implement PP Tunas, Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 concerning the Protection of Electronic System Governance in Child Protection, which has been effective since March 28, 2026.

"TikTok was the first to report the number of deactivations and the first to demonstrate that its commitment is accompanied by concrete steps transparently communicated to the public through the Ministry of Communication and Digital Services," said Meutya in a press conference at the Ministry of Communication and Digital Services office.

In a meeting between TikTok and the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs, it was reported that TikTok had closed 1.7 million child accounts as of April 28, 2026. This number increased significantly from April 10, 2026, when TikTok had closed 780,000 child accounts.
