Older iPhones get security updates to ward off hacker attacks

Apple has released a security update for older iPhones and iPads to protect users from the threat of hacking using a tool called DarkSword that can steal personal data.

this feature was released by Apple through the iOS 18.7.7 and iPadOS 18.7.7 updates to protect more devices from web-based attacks.

DarkSword is known to be able to infiltrate devices running iOS versions 18.4 to 18.7 simply by visiting a website infected with malicious code. This attack allows attackers to steal user data, such as messages, browsing history, location, and even crypto assets.

The hacking tool was previously reported to have been used in attacks targeting users in a number of countries, including China, Malaysia, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Ukraine.
