Moroccan fighter Youssef Zalal lost to his American rival Aljamin Sterling in the fight that brought them together early Sunday morning in America, as part of the "UFC Fight Night 274" martial arts (MMA) championship.
The confrontation witnessed a strong rivalry between the fighters, but Sterling was able to impose his rhythm and control the course of the fight, which took place in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, which tipped the scales in favor of the American fighter with the judging panel in the end, so he won by points with the unanimous decision of the judges.
On the other side, 29-year-old Youssef Zalal suffered his sixth defeat, a fighter with 18 wins and one draw.
It is worth noting that UFC President Dana White was among those present at the Washington Hilton Hotel early Sunday morning, which hosted the White House Correspondents' Dinner and witnessed a shooting, possibly an assassination attempt against US President Donald Trump, which led to widespread chaos and the evacuation of Trump and his wife Melania, as well as Vice President JD Vance and senior officials.
USA Today quoted Dana White, president of the UFC Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) organization, as saying: "Suddenly, the noises got tremendous. Tables started flipping over, and people with firearms stormed in yelling, 'Get down!' But I didn't get down. It was very (insanely) exciting. I literally enjoyed every minute of it; it was a completely unique and crazy experience."
He added: "We were sitting directly in front of where the president was sitting. No one was pushed or fell, but people stormed the place looking for the shooter and headed straight for our table. I thought at the time that the shooter was somewhere right next to us."
