Sweden beat Poland 3-2 to qualify for the 2026 World Cup

 

  Sweden advanced to the 2026 World Cup finals after defeating Poland 3-2 in the European Qualifying Group B play-off final at the Friends Arena Stadium, Solna.

Sweden's victory came courtesy of goals from Anthony Elanga, Gustaf Lagerbielke and Viktor Gyokeres, while Poland responded through Nicola Zalewski and Karol Swiderski, according to UEFA records.

Sweden is back in the World Cup finals after their last appearance in 2018 and has been drawn in Group F alongside the Netherlands, Japan and Tunisia.

Poland failed to appear in the World Cup after always participating in the previous two editions.

Sweden took the lead in the 20th minute through Anthony Elanga after receiving a pass from Yasin Ayari.

Poland responded by threatening with a shot from Karol Swiderski, which was swiftly blocked by Swedish goalkeeper Kristoffer Nordfeldt.
