All eyes will be on the Allianz Arena on Wednesday evening, where European giants Bayern Munich and Real Madrid will meet in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.
The Bavarian team enters tonight's match with a 2-1 lead after achieving an important victory in the first leg, which was held at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium in Madrid last week, in a match that witnessed great excitement until the last moments.
Historically, Bayern Munich has a clear advantage in such encounters, having qualified in 29 out of 30 two-legged ties after winning the first leg away from home.
The German team also managed to win 12 out of 13 matches when the first leg victory was by only one goal.
The only exception was in the 2010/2011 season, when Inter Milan managed to turn the tables on Bayern after losing the first leg 0-1, winning the second leg 3-2 and qualifying thanks to the away goals rule.
Bayern Munich continued their strong run after the win in Madrid, achieving a resounding 5-0 victory over St. Pauli in the Bundesliga, a match that strengthened the Bavarian team's lead in the Bundesliga standings.
Bayern also benefited from Borussia Dortmund's loss to Bayer Leverkusen, extending their lead at the top to 12 points, which puts them close to clinching the league title early, perhaps as early as this weekend.
Nevertheless, Bayern Munich's focus remains on the Champions League, as the team seeks to reach the semi-finals for the first time since winning their sixth title in the 2019/2020 season.
But the task will not be easy for Real Madrid, especially since Bayern have lost seven of their last eight two-legged European encounters against Spanish teams, and have been eliminated in four of their last five quarter-final matches.
However, Bayern Munich possesses a significant weapon in the form of the Allianz Arena, where the team has won all five of its European home matches this season.
They have also lost only one of their last 28 home games in the Champions League, recording 22 wins and five draws.
In contrast, Real Madrid enters the match under great pressure, after their recent poor results, having lost to Mallorca 1-2 and then drawn with Girona 1-1 in the Spanish League.
These results angered Real Madrid fans at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, especially since the team is now nine points behind leaders Barcelona with seven rounds remaining in the season.
Life has not been easy since the departure of coach Xabi Alonso, as current coach Arbeloa is under increasing pressure, especially after the surprise exit from the Spanish King's Cup against a lower-division team, in addition to the inconsistent performance in the Champions League.
Despite these difficulties, Real Madrid relies on its great history in the European Championship, as the team has succeeded in winning its last seven quarter-final matches against German teams.
Real Madrid have also won their last nine home-and-away matches against German clubs, and have lost only twice in their last 12 away games against German teams.
Real Madrid also has a positive record at the Allianz Arena, having not lost in their last four matches there, achieving three wins and one draw.
They have also not lost in their last four home-and-away encounters against Bayern Munich, the most recent of which was in the 2023/24 season semi-final, when they won 4-3 on aggregate.
