The Ministry of Communication and Digital confirmed that the Indonesian Game Rating System (IGRS) ratings displayed on a number of games on the Steam platform are not official classification results verified by the Indonesian government.
Sonny Hendra Sudaryana, Director of Digital Ecosystem Development at the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs, stated that monitoring results indicate that the ratings displayed on the platform are still derived from an internal, self-declaration mechanism and have not undergone an official verification process in accordance with Indonesian regulations.
"The ratings circulating are not the official IGRS classification results. This has the potential to cause public misunderstanding, particularly regarding the age-appropriateness of a game," Sonny said in a statement.
