The Ministry of Communication and Digital says Internet Villages drive village economic growth

The Ministry of Communication and Digital  stated that the Internet Village program not only expands internet access but also encourages local economic growth by developing business actors and an ecosystem of internet service providers.

Mulyadi, Director of Digital Infrastructure Acceleration at the Ministry of Communication and Digital, said the government is distributing incentives to internet service providers over a one-year period to build internet networks in previously unreachable areas.

"The government targeted one location, and operators, using government-subsidized funds, could lay cables there. It turns out that demand has also grown along the way, from the network's final point to the villages where it was built," Mulyadi said at a press conference in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.

He explained that the government selected areas with potential for micro, small, and medium enterprises  to ensure sustainable internet network utilization and encourage economic growth in the region.
