USA: Singer D4vd, suspected of murder, has been arrested

Singer D4vd has been arrested, suspected of killing a 14-year-old girl whose decomposing body was found last year in his Tesla.

The Los Angeles Police Department said in a brief statement that the 21-year-old Houston-born alternative pop singer, whose legal name is David Burke, was being held without bail on suspicion of murder after his arrest in connection with the murder investigation of Celeste Rivas Hernandez.

Police indicated that investigators would present the case to prosecutors at the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office on Monday. The district attorney's office stated in its own press release that it was aware of the arrest and that its Major Crimes Division would review the case to determine if there was sufficient evidence to bring charges.

The singer was the subject of a grand jury investigation in Los Angeles County into the death of Rivas Hernandez.

The lifeless body of Celeste Rivas Hernandez was found in a Tesla on September 8, one day after what would have been her 15th birthday.

The 2023 Tesla Model Y was registered in the singer's name at the Texas address of his family members subpoenaed to appear, according to court documents filed by prosecutors. It had been towed from an upscale neighborhood in the Hollywood Hills where it had been parked, apparently abandoned.

D4vd gained popularity among Gen Z fans thanks to his blend of indie rock, R&B, and lo-fi pop. He went viral on TikTok in 2022 with the hit "Romantic Homicide," which peaked at number 4 on Billboard's Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart.
