AS Roma secured a Champions League spot after defeating Hellas Verona 2-0 in the final week of the 2025/26 Serie A season at the Stadio Marc Antonio Bentegodi on Monday.
Donyell Malen and Stephan El Shaarawy scored the decisive goals for Roma. This result was all the more significant because AC Milan's defeat to Cagliari paved the way for the capital club to break into the top three.
Roma finished the season in third place with 73 points, while Verona, who were already relegated, finished the season in 19th place with 21 points, according to the official Legaserie A website.
Despite facing a bottom-of-the-table team, Roma didn't score straight away. The first chance came in the 34th minute from a Paulo Dybala free-kick, but Verona goalkeeper Lorenzo Montipo was alert to thwart the threat.l
The hosts also put on some pressure towards the end of the first half. Kieron Bowie had a golden opportunity, but Roma goalkeeper Mile Svilar thwarted him by coming out of his area.
Entering the second half, Roma again relied on set pieces. Dybala's free kick this time went wide.
