The Canadian national basketball team won the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) 3x3 Women's Series Shanghai 2026 in China, after dramatically defeating Amsterdam from the Netherlands with a score of 19-17.
The FIBA 3x3 website stated that the final match, which took place at Shanghai Global Harbor, was forced to go into overtime.
Amsterdam had opened a 4-1 lead, but Canada rallied through slick play by Merissah Russell and Paige Crozon to take a 9-6 lead.
The Windmill Country Team then responded with a run of points that brought them back in front with a score of 15-11 at the end of normal time.
Canada refused to give up and managed to turn the score around to 17-16. However, Zoe Slagter scored a crucial point that forced the game into overtime .
In extra time, Russell played his game as he converted two free throws to seal Canada's 19-17 victory.
