Canada wins FIBA ​​3x3 Women's Series Shanghai after dramatic win

 

  The Canadian national basketball team won the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) 3x3 Women's Series Shanghai 2026 in China, after dramatically defeating Amsterdam from the Netherlands with a score of 19-17.

The FIBA ​​3x3 website stated  that the final match, which took place at Shanghai Global Harbor, was forced to go into overtime.

Amsterdam had opened a 4-1 lead, but Canada rallied through slick play by Merissah Russell and Paige Crozon to take a 9-6 lead.

The Windmill Country Team then responded with a run of points that brought them back in front with a score of 15-11 at the end of normal time.

Canada refused to give up and managed to turn the score around to 17-16. However, Zoe Slagter scored a crucial point that forced the game into overtime .

In extra time, Russell played his game as he converted two free throws to seal Canada's 19-17 victory.
