Chelsea ready to bring in Xabi Alonso

Chelsea are rumored to be ready to bring former Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso to Stamford Bridge in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by The Athletic  the Blues are studying the possibility of a contract for the Spaniard.

"Chelsea are currently exploring the possibility of a deal with Xabi Alonso as head coach. The Spaniard is very open to a deal, but no talks have been held yet," wrote The Athletic.

Despite continuing to be linked with Alonso, Chelsea have yet to make a move for him.

Chelsea are still sorting out names who could be brought in, but Alonso and Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola are the two strongest candidates.

Chelsea terminated caretaker manager Liam Rosenoir's contract on April 23 after the former Strasbourg manager had been in charge for just four months.

Enzo Fernandez and his friends are now being coached by interim coach Calum McFarlane who will be in charge until the end of this season.

Alonso has been out of work since being sacked by Real Madrid in January.
