The Indonesian U17 national team has been confirmed as failing to qualify for the U17 World Cup after losing 1-3 to the Japanese U17 national team in the final match of Group B of the 2026 U17 Asian Cup at Field A of the King Abdullah Sports City Training Stadium Complex, Jeddah.
This defeat leaves Indonesia at the bottom of Group B of the 2026 AFC U17 Championship with three points from three matches, not enough to secure a top-two finish, according to AFC records.
On the other hand, Japan advanced to the quarter-finals of the U-17 Asian Cup, and was also confirmed to appear in the U-17 World Cup, because it was ranked first in the final standings of Group B with nine points from three matches.
Besides Japan, Group B also sent another representative with the title of second place in the final standings, namely the Chinese U17 National Team, which managed to beat the Qatar U17 National Team 2-0 in the final match.
Japan immediately displayed an attacking game from the start of the match and immediately troubled the Indonesian defense, but no goals were scored.
Japan had a chance through a shot from striker Eito Tataki, but his shot soared over the Indonesian crossbar.
The Blue Samurai squad finally managed to take the lead in the 28th minute through Ryoma Tsuyoneshi's shot in front of the Indonesian goal, making the score 1-0.
