A study conducted by Chinese scientists has shown that the popular "Liobao" tea supports the health of the body's lymphatic system and helps reduce inflammation.
The researchers pointed out that so-called lymphedema is a chronic swelling that occurs when the lymphatic system does not drain fluids from tissues adequately, leading to an accumulation of lymphatic fluid in the arms, legs, and other parts of the body, causing swelling, inflammation, and pain, as well as a risk of infection. Therefore, they studied the effect of some traditional drinks on treating this problem.
Researchers studied the effect of fermented "Liupao" tea on lymphatic endothelial cells, which line lymphatic vessels, and found that lymphedema is associated with a sharp increase in the activity of the PRKCB protein, which is linked to inflammation and metabolic disorders, and that the extract of this tea reduces the activity of this protein and improves the cells' ability to recover from inflammatory damage.
Some compounds found in "Leopao" tea, such as teliroside and quercetin, have also shown strong efficacy in supporting lymphatic system health and fighting inflammation.
The researchers noted that their findings were based on experiments conducted on cells, but they suggest that "Liupao" tea is a promising functional product for supporting lymphatic system health.
A study conducted by Chinese researchers on laboratory mice, and published in the journal Nutrients, showed that Liupao tea extract helps lower blood sugar levels, improves metabolism and fat metabolism, and protects the liver from inflammation.
