Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko announced that students from 150 countries are receiving their medical education at Russian universities.

The minister said in a speech during the 79th session of the World Health Assembly: “In Russia, we pay special attention to the preparation and training of medical personnel. Students from 150 countries study medicine in our country, and over the past three years we have witnessed an increase in the number of medical personnel providing healthcare to patients.”

He added: "The effectiveness of the regulatory decisions taken in Russia is reflected in the performance indicators of the healthcare system, particularly maternal and infant mortality rates, where the infant mortality rate has reached less than 3.4 per thousand, and the mortality rate of children under the age of five has decreased by 25% over the past five years."

Murashko explained that this achievement "was made possible thanks to the health system in place in Russia, the telemedicine consultation system in place in the country, and the disaster medicine system."

Russia is considered one of the leading countries in many medical fields such as ophthalmology and cardiology, and students from various countries come to it to study and gain knowledge. Russian universities and research and medical institutions have also recorded many new innovations in the fields of developing treatments and medical devices.
