Football: Salah will be able to play again this season

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah will return from injury in time to say goodbye properly, but he will not be ready for Sunday's match at Manchester United.

The Egyptian striker, who is leaving the club at the end of this season, apparently injured his hamstring in the victory against Crystal Palace last saturday. Liverpool manager, Arne Slot, confirmed Friday that Salah would play again before the end of the season.

"In general, he recovers faster than other players after a minor injury —because it is a minor injury—, so we expect him to actually return for the end of the season, but not for Sunday", Slot said. "It's a big relief that his injury is minor, so he can play for us and be able to play in the World Cup. If there's one player who deserves such a farewell, it's Mo.

Salah announced at the end of March that he was leaving the club a year earlier than planned. This is his ninth season at Anfield.

Egypt key player

At 33, Salah had a disappointing season, marked in particular by a public argument with Slot. He only scored seven goals in Premier League, after finishing at the top of the scorers' rankings last season with 29 goals.

Liverpool have four games remaining this season, which ends on May 24 with the arrival of Brentford at Anfield. The Slot team is three points behind Manchester United3rd in the standings, with both teams vying for a place in the Champions League.

Egypt plays in Group G of the World Cup and will begin the competition against the Belgium june 15 before facing the New Zealand and iran. Egypt has never won a World Cup match in its three appearances.

His last participation dates back to the 2018 edition in Russia, where Salah was hampered by a shoulder injury contracted during the Champions League final a few weeks earlier, when Liverpool had lost to the Real Madrid.
